We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.

Job Summary

The Design and Consulting Services Division of AECOM is actively seeking a creative and innovative Structural Engineer for immediate employment in the Chelmsford, MA office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate a career in design / engineering, specific to Department of Defense (DOD) infrastructure engineering projects. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The selected candidate will support AECOM’s operations business with a variety of industrial, municipal and military clients throughout the world.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Support and/or lead project teams for the structural design of DOD facilities

  • Mentor staff

  • Plan and prepare, or review, technical specifications and other procurement and contract documents

  • Prepare drawings and visual aids, presentations and oversee development of rapid visualization and BIM activities

  • Verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards / practices with structural engineering teams

  • Participate actively in professional organizations such as the Society of Military Engineers (SAME)

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

  • 10+ years of structural engineering work experience with a focus on military projects

  • Professional Engineer registration

  • Experience with industry standard structural design packages, finite element modeling packages, and Revit

  • Knowledge and experience in performing structural engineering design for military and government clients in accordance with applicable codes and standards, including Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) codes

  • Experience with DOD design review process, using Dr. Checks in ProjNet

  • Must have knowledge and/or experience in planning studies, conditions assessment, systems analysis and, rehabilitation projects

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in related field

  • Business development experience including client relations, proposal preparation, and professional leadership activities

  • Team leadership experience supervising engineers, CAD technicians, surveyors and field inspectors

  • Knowledge of the installation and construction techniques required in the field and the potential obstacles that may be encountered

  • International project experience
