Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary

AECOM is expanding its operations in the New England area to grow our business serving the offshore energy, industrial, oil and gas, renewables and federal government markets. We are actively recruiting for a Senior Technical Lead with both technical and business development skills that can help market our capabilities and successfully apply our environmental skills. Position may be based out of our Chelmsford or Pocasset office.

As a senior subject matter expert and technical lead, the selected individual will be responsible for the successful execution and growth of programs that span AECOM’s oil and gas, energy, industrial and federal markets.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Authorizing and reviewing complex technical documents for coastal and offshore ecosystems

  • Developing effective and insightful analyses of the external market within the industrial, power, oil and gas and federal markets

  • Identifying and pursuing key business and growth opportunities for AECOM’s portfolio

  • Establishing a clear understanding of competitor practices and defining strategies for effectively developing differentiated competitive strategies for AECOM’s offerings

  • Managing projects, meeting schedule and budget constraints and using earned value management techniques to track project status

  • Project management will include scheduling and mobilizing staff, selecting vendors, and managing performance to meet cost and schedule deadlines

  • Working closely with other AECOM leadership in executing the offshore business strategy and in building overall awareness of AECOM’s services

  • Identifying skill sets needed for AECOM’s offshore environmental practice to effectively develop and grow our business

  • Developing long-term financial and business strategies to support investment requirements and decisions consistent with strategic business line objectives

  • Establishing appropriate financial measures and economic analysis to assess accomplishment of investment objectives

  • Preparing proposals and negotiating with clients in collaboration with internal technical, legal, and contract stakeholders

  • Writing winning proposals and assisting the Offshore Market Sector Leader in selling work to power, industrial, government and oil and gas clients

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline, such as Ecology, Biology, Environmental Engineering, or other environmental discipline

  • 10+ years of scientific and/or technical experience working in related technical field, or equivalent experience

  • Experience leading large technical programs to government and industry clients

  • Experience managing relationships with collaborators and clients

  • Have a relevant technical background in ecological studies and experience in planning and managing projects serving the industry

  • Must have strong technical capabilities in ecosystem ecology

  • Strong ability to write and review technical documents and have established client relationships in the government and private sectors

  • Ability to oversee collection and analysis of large spatially explicit data sets

  • Strong interpersonal skills and be perceived by clients and peers as a leader who provides value

  • Possess demonstrated leadership qualities and have a successful track record in developing and completing initiatives

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with collaborators, subcontractors and research organizations

  • Ability to write and review complex technical documents in the field of ecosystem ecology, perform high level statistical and analytical work, manage large GIS and remote sensing data bases and lead field crews in complex logistical settings

  • Computer proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, ESRI ARC GIS, and a variety of statistical programs

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have the ability to travel and give client focused presentations, with up to 25% of time away from the office

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or Ph.D. degree in a relevant technical discipline, such ecology, environmental engineering or other environmental discipline
