Job Summary

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with other transit designers

  • BRT/Rail transit design

  • Intersection and interchange design

  • Preparing plans

  • Any other duties assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field

  • 5 years of experience on transit projects

  • NC PE or ability to obtain through reciprocity in 6 months required. EIT with 4-5 years will also be considered.

  • Understanding of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) process

  • Ability to develop scope/fee estimates for projects

  • Ability to track and manage task budgets and schedules

  • Demonstrate leadership skills and communication skills requiring client interaction

  • Ability to work with various multi-disciplined teams is essential to this role

  • MicroStation/Geopak and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D experience as well as other design software

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field

  • 10+ years of transit experience in the private sector

  • Ability to manage projects-cost, budgets, schedule, quality control and deliverables

  • Experience with local NC municipalities, transit agencies, Southeast DOT's and approving agencies preferable

  • Ability to supervise entry-level engineers and designers
