Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Manager of Engineering and Operations Services – Natural Gas Pipeline to join our Infrastructure group in the Charlotte, North Carolina office. The selected individual will become an integral part of the design team, managing and working on projects such as natural gas pipelines and local municipal improvement projects for natural gas clients. The Charlotte design team works closely with a number of regional offices, supporting local and regional projects. We have a large backlog of projects and have several potential projects coming from key clients.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Acts as primary point of contact with client with major natural gas clients

  • Responsible for providing management of ongoing natural gas projects, while potentially supporting other ongoing efforts for the design of utilities, site-civil, roadway, and transit projects

  • Work will be performed as part of a team, but will most likely require coordination and interaction with both a larger AECOM team and the client

  • Direct work with minimal direction from the client and/or senior team members

  • Manage complete engineering assignment deliverables of varying complexity within a defined fee and schedule

  • Preparation of project reports, drawings and calculations

  • Design of various project elements for inclusion in the final project deliverables

  • Direct client coordination, and coordinating with public utility companies, private utilities, and sub consultants.

  • Stay current with changing local, regional, and national requirements for storm water runoff and detention requirements, and apply the findings of that research to ongoing projects

  • Interact with multi-discipline and multi-office teams within AECOM, as well as with clients and various regulatory agencies

  • Eventually guiding more junior engineer on future projects

  • This position affords the ability to lead our projects and our clients. The role will provide the opportunity for skill development in many aspects of the profession, as well as opportunities for increased responsibility, challenges and project management

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or appropriate discipline from an accredited school

  • 15+ years of task and project management experience specific to natural gas pipelines

  • Professional Engineering License

  • Ability to interface and develop relationships with high profile industrial, commercial and municipal clients

  • Ability to work independently on projects and perform gas transmission pipeline design, produce supporting calculations, produce engineering reports, develop drawing packages specific to midstream gas pipelines,

  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with design engineers and managers for the preparation of high quality drawings

  • Excellent time management skills, strong work ethics, show attention to details, and most importantly, a strong desire to learn

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

  • Valid driver's license in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Engineering

  • Professional Engineer in North or South Carolina or the ability for resource porosity

  • Experience with transmission pipeline and piping facilities and/or FERC pipeline project experience

  • Involvement with SGA or other associations that are involved with the natural gas industry

  • Specific involvement with large diameter transmission lines or compressor station design/construction
