Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary

The Environmental Business Unit of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Water Resources Engineer for immediate employment in our Chantilly, VA office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in design of stormwater and water resources projects. The successful candidate can look forward to a variety of projects with Municipal, Federal, and private clients throughout the DC Metro area and beyond. Projects will include the planning and design of stormwater management facilities (e.g., BMP, GI, LID), watershed planning and implementation projects, the design and planning of flood mitigation facilities, and water quality studies and TMDL action plans/studies.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Leads the design efforts for a variety of water resources and site development projects

  • Construction phase monitoring of projects

  • Training and mentoring of junior staff

  • Preparation of technical reports and technical documentation of calculations performed

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, water resources, hydrology or related field

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer or ability to obtain within 1 year

  • 5+ years of experience in the planning and design of Stormwater Management facilities, including project analysis, feasibility and budgeting required

  • Technical proficiency in civil engineering design and analysis, including site grading, SWM/BMP, hydrology/hydraulic calculations, TMDL compliance, erosion and sediment control, and drainage design of storm sewers

  • Highly proficient with CAD including ability to work in Civil 3D

  • Experience working with local and state permit agencies

  • Strong written and oral communication, quantitative and interpersonal skills

  • Strong work ethic and professional demeanor

  • Must work independently with minimal supervision, and complete multiple technical tasks under tight deadlines

  • Valid driver’s license required
