Job Summary

As the Senior Hydro Mechanical Engineer you would be responsible for leading the design, evaluation, review and inspections of hydro-mechanical equipment through the life cycle of hydroelectric power plants (HEPPs), and hydro mechanical equipment related to dams and water treatment works.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Will be responsible for leading the design, evaluate, review and inspections of hydro-mechanical equipment through the life cycle of hydroelectric power plants (HEPPs), and hydro mechanical equipment related to dams and water treatment works. Work requirements will include working in multidisciplinary environment including electrical, civil, and engineering material e.g. steel environment and will be focused on:

  • Hydro-mechanical system selection.

  • CAD modelling.

  • FEM analysis and optimization.

  • Hydraulic and economic analyses.

  • Detail equipment design.

  • Specification development.

  • Equipment and maintenance assessment.

  • Manufacturing and commissioning witnessing.

  • Maintenance and operational assessment of existing systems.

  • Handover inspections and reports.

  • Coordinating and leading the interface with civil and electrical engineering teams.

  • Project management.

  • Report writing and review.

  • Business development and client liaison.

Minimum Requirements

Experience:

  • Minimum 15 years’ relevant experience in hydro-mechanical engineering.

  • Experience in project management and liaison with clients.

  • Experience with hydro power projects will be required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).

  • Post-graduate qualification in dam engineering will be advantageous.

  • Professional Engineer (Pr Eng with ECSA or equivalent).
