About the Business Line
We deliver creative solutions for building projects for industry, government, commercial and leisure sectors. Our building engineering specialists have expertise in structural and building services engineering, fire engineering, acoustics, facades and seismic design. We embed sustainability principles in every design.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Fire Protection Engineering design in the Building Services sector.
Fire Protection Engineering Design including Sprinkler systems, Fire Detection systems, Smoke Extraction systems, Hydrants & Hose Reels, Fire Signage.
Proficient in relevant Fire Protection Engineering software Pathfinder, Pyrosim & Canute.
Liaison with local authorities including Council submissions and sign-off.
Impeccable knowledge of SANS 10400 Part T and experienced in rational fire designs.
Lead a Fire Protection engineering team, provide technical training and mentorship to less experienced team members.
Technical quality enforcement including design reviews and sign-off.
Interfacing of designs with other disciplines e.g. structural, architectural, mechanical & electrical.
Handling full scope of fire consulting services on projects from conception to close-out.
Implementing and ensuring of compliance to company quality management system.
Use of international and local design standards and codes of practice SANS, BS & NFPA.
Liaison with Clients and other consultants.
Report to Mechanical Practice Line Lead on Fire team quality and performance metrics.
- 5+ years working experience.
Personal attributes, qualities or competencies needed:
- Independent worker, deadline oriented, committed and driven individual.
- Valid driver’s licence.
B.Eng./B.Sc. Mechanical; Pr. Eng essential and ASIB Certification preferential.
