Job Summary

ManageAECOM’srealestateportfolioacrossAfricatomaximizeoperatingandfinancialefficiencybydeveloping,implementingandoverseeingbestinclassservicesforportfoliostrategyandmanagement,facilityandworkplacemanagementandprojectdelivery.Responsibleformanagingthesupplychainofservicesagainstaperformanceframework and forleveraginginternalandexternal,directandindirectresources.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop portfolio strategies and lead transaction activities, including:

  • Development of portfolio strategies for AECOM’s facilities in Africa.

  • Coordination of real estate transactions and management of AECOM’s transaction services providers.

  • Preparation of business cases as part of AECOM’s approval process.

  • Annual rent budget planning, tracking and forecasting.

Develop and direct Facility and Workplace Management activities including:

  • Occupancy expense budget planning, tracking, and forecasting

  • Cost reduction programs

  • Space use, tracking, and allocation

  • Alternative workplace program development and implementation

  • Customer / occupant relationship management

  • Landlord and/or sub-tenant management

  • Vendor management and sourcing and management of portfolio-wide suppliers and contracts

  • Move and space management in large hub offices

  • Workplace and change management delivery

  • Jurisdictional and building requirements

Develop and direct Project Management activities including:

  • Capital expense budget planning, managing, tracking, and forecasting

  • Overall project management oversight

  • Preferred vendors and build-out standards

  • Provide clear project plans by setting objectives, defining scope, obtaining buy-in and approvals, leading communications, and delivering on milestones.

  • Measure the on going performance of each project, compared to initial concepts and approvals.

  • Ensure that service delivery meets jurisdictional requirements, supports business priorities, and aligns with AECOM’s standards for environmental management and sustainability.

  • Support the company’s business continuity requirements, from a FM perspective, and develop solutions, as appropriate.

  • Liaise with peers and stakeholders in the geography and in Corporate, including, but not limited to Accounting and/or Finance, IT, HR, Safety, Health & Environmental.

  • Leverage foundations established by real estate and facilities services in other geographies.

  • Mentor and oversee resources responsible for delivering day-to-day services.

  • Take responsibility for setting objectives and performance targets for your direct and indirect reports; May include direct reports in Facilities Management, indirect support in Office Services, and/or outside vendors or landlords.

  • Act as the strategic interface between those who deliver service and those in the business, to ensure service delivery meets objectives.

  • Accountable for driving the achievement of your team through effective career management, succession planning and/or development.

Create and manage relationships, often at an executive level, with those who shape and direct the work and priorities of AECOM.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum of 10 years industry experience with 7 years experience in a similar role managing a large property portfolio across a related geography, ideally within a corporate occupier side or on a dedicated basis within a real estate service provider company.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate with a BA/BSc degree in land or property economics, architecture, building engineering or construction management, or a related field is preferred.

  • Membership of relevant real estate professional bodies such as the API, FMA, REIoA, AIB, RIA or AIPM is preferred.
