We support our employees globally by coordinating and managing the day-to-day operations of General Accounting, Human Resources, Administration, Marketing and Information Technology. GL Accountant to perform general ledger account processing, reconciliation and management of the accounting compliance activities related to various entities in Africa for which the accounting is performed at the Head Office in Centurion. Will work with a team of 4 other General Ledger accountants using the Sage Oracle accounting system.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Accurate, timeous and consistent processing of group general ledger accounting entries.
Processing and administration of all accounting related journal entries.
Updating and maintaining General Ledger reconciliations records on a monthly basis.
Liaising and assisting with legal, HR, tax and management on compliance issues identified requiring maintenance.
Manage and conduct month-end and year-end statutory requirements.
Assistance with Reconciliation of bank accounts.
Reconciliation and maintaining of foreign currency conversions on GL balances.
Assist with the month end accounting close process.
Ensure that strong internal controls are being maintained to help ensure the reliability of the financial statements.
Liaise with Tax consultants and submission of monthly/annual tax returns.
Liaise with external auditors to prepare audit work papers and manage audit process.
Prepare Annual Financial Statement in accordance to IFRS and local requirements.
Accurate and timeous delivery of ad hoc, monthly and annual GL Reports.
Manage tax and compliance requirements across multiple African countries.
Coordinate the processing of Accounts payable invoices from vendors in Africa.
Liaise with HR to update staff costing issues identified during GL Recon process.
Process, review and approve paperwork.
Assist in developing controls.
Other duties may be assigned on an as-needed.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on GL experience.
Experience of complex consolidations advantageous.
Experience in Oracle finance systems preferred.
Experience in Reconciliation, preparation and submission of annual income tax returns.
