AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Radiological Control Technician in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
The successful candidate will enter a rigorous training program designed to qualify the candidate as a Radiological Control Technician. Learn all aspects of measuring and controlling exposure to radioactive contamination and radiation. Qualify on monitoring equipment and surveys. Learn to interpret survey results and post area appropriately and take actions as necessary. Qualify to support the waste handling processes both surface and underground at WIPP. Learn how to respond to a contamination event. Use of respirators is required.
A High School Diploma or GED is required.
Successful completion of a competency test in mathematics (algebra) and physical sciences (chemistry and physics).
Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical.
Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds in order to complete radiological surveys.
Will be required to complete and maintain training and qualifications for respirator use.
One year nuclear operations experience is required.
Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be US Citizens.
Previous experience as a DOE qualified Radiological Control Technician or demonstrated equivalent is desired.
Previous WIPP experience preferred.
