Job Summary

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Protective Force Field Training Officer (Captain) in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The successful candidate will serve as Pro-Force Captain for the Protective Force Program at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant. Develop and maintain training in compliance with DOE Order 473.3A, Protection Program Operations, and other applicable regulations. Provide instructor support for the Basic Security Police Officer Training courses to include Range Master support. Assist in the development of programmatic and tactical methods to identify, assess, prevent, and respond to internal or external threats and emergencies. Provide on-shift tactical and non-tactical training and ensure members of the Protective Force have an understanding of organizational policies, orders, regulations, and industry best practices. Develop security-related plans, procedures, guidelines, and shift orders. Coordinate the physical fitness program and testing. Support training-related working groups and subcommittees. May be assigned to cover rotating shifts, as needed. Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization. Must be willing to be on-call. Understand and embrace nuclear safety culture principles. Must be able to acquire and maintain Certifications as indicated below and maintain the physical fitness requirements of a WIPP Security Police Officer. Must have effective oral, analytical, written, and communication skills. Other duties as directed by responsible manager.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or field related to the position.

  • Five (5) years of related professional experience in physical security is required.

  • Two (2) years of experience training security/law enforcement officers.

  • Passing a Pre-Employment Physical is required.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” Clearance.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in software applications such as MS Office Suite.

  • Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be US Citizens.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of DOE O 473.3A, Protection Program Operations, is preferred.

  • Preference given to current or previous certifications such as: First Aid/CPR Instructor, DOE Firearms Instructor, DOE Intermediate Force Instructor, DOE Armored, Personal Training.

  • Previous WIPP experience is preferred.
