Job Summary

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Fire Protection Engineer in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The successful candidate will be able to apply Fire Protection Engineering principals and techniques to various and diverse technical problems all over the United States and internationally. Application of Fire Protection Engineering principles to problems ranging from simple code consulting to unique and complex technical problems. Tasks include application of codes and standards, evaluation of fire protection programs and facilities or development and implementation of fire protection programs, fire protection systems support including minor design modifications or recommendations. Fire Protection engineering project support ranging from small focused scope to large, multimillion dollar one of a kind projects. May include computer modeling of fire, egress or other fire related or influenced phenomena.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related field.

  • Two (2) years of experience in fire protection engineering.

  • Experience with fire protection systems such as water.based fire suppression, special hazards fire suppression including dry chemical, wet chemical and aerosol systems, fireprotection water distribution systems, fire alarm and detection systems, and the associated inspection, testing and maintenance of those systems.

  • Experience with DOE Orders and Standards, particularly DOE O 420.lC and DOE-STD-1066-2012.

  • Experience with NFPA Codes and standards. Specifically, NFPA 101, 13, 17,17A, 20, 24, 25, 72, 2010, and 801.

  • Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be US Citizens.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Master's degree in Fire Protection Engineering preferred.

  • Three (3+) or more years of experience in fire protection DOE or nuclear facility fire protection engineering experience preferred.

  • DOE nuclear facility fire protection engineering experience preferred.

  • Experience with nuclear facility Documented Safety Analysis preferred.

  • Fire Department operations knowledge or experience is a plus.

  • One (1) year government or commercial nuclear experience preferred.

  • Previous WIPP experience preferred.
