AECOM’s Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM’s Government business line and is comprised of three divisions — International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. GSS has the international presence, personnel networks and procurement infrastructure to deliver support for any mission, anywhere. We optimize the reliability, availability and sustainability of equipment, logistics systems and facilities for clients around the world. GSS supports the U.S. Government, non-U.S. Governments and industry clients with worldwide program management, planning, design, operations and maintenance, logistics, aviation services, security, international development, environmental and civil engineering and mission and intelligence support.

Job Summary

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Communications Specialist in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The successful candidate will support a variety of external and internal communications activities, including preparation of presentations for senior managers. Update the WIPP Home Page. Prepare various graphics in support of internal/external communications. Reply to e-mail inquiries to the WIPP Information Center. Staff WIPP exhibits as needed locally or at national conferences. Assist stakeholders visiting the WIPP Experience Exhibit. Additional responsibilities include maintaining internet/intranet, publishing employee weekly e-newsletter, writing and distributing internal employee notices and serves as a WIPP tour guide.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with ten (10) years of experience, or

  • Associate's Degree with fourteen (14) years of experience in public affairs, media relations or employee communications is required.

  • Ability to serve as a member of WIPP's Emergency Response Organization that includes occasional on-call duties.

  • Must have strong writing skills.

  • Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be US Citizens.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience in photography and developing graphics is a benefit.

  • Previous WIPP experience is a plus.
