URS has an opening for an Electrician, Maintenance - Generator Mechanic.
Must have a strong background with maintenance of reciprocating engines and hands-on experience with troubleshooting and maintenance for generator sets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Electronics Technician, Maintenance maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, modifies and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment. Works under close supervision of supervisor or higher-level technician. Position reports to Field Supervisor.
Applies basic technical knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks following detailed instructions.
Performs tasks such as replacing components, wiring circuits, repairing simple electronic equipment; and taking test readings using common instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, and oscilloscopes.
Works under close supervision receiving technical guidance from supervisor or higher-level technician. Work is checked frequently for accuracy.
Maintains, repairs, and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, radio, telecommunication, sonar, and navigational aids); micro and mainframe computers and terminals; and industrial measuring, controlling equipment, and industrial calibration devices.
Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining malfunctions, and applies skill in restoring equipment operations.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Work is performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated and ventilated, is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruises from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts and sweepers in shop area. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell. Frequently lifts items weighing 40-45 pounds and occasionally in excess of 50 pounds. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud or unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and Providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues. Position requires the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
High school diploma or GED is required. Minimum 5 years actual and recent aircraft or vehicle, or missile experience required. Thorough knowledge of technical publications related to aircraft and missile electronics maintenance mandatory.
Must have knowledge of the scopes and limitations of various categories of electronic maintenance (related maintenance functions) and their applications to the contract unit.
Must know theory and principles of operation of engines, accessories and components, and a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic principles.
Must be capable of using and reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and data tables.
Must be able to inspect, repair, and operate ground support and auxiliary equipment.
OCONUS (Outside Continental United States) contracts require the following: Troubleshoot and repair a variety of electronic systems to include but not limited to, TOW, LRAS, CLU, lasers, thermal sights, night vision devices, Line Replacement Units for tracked equipment, fire control system and operation of Direct Support Electrical Test System (DSETS).
Must possess excellent communications skills.
Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
Must have a favorably completed National Agency Check with Written Inquiries (NACI) including a FBI fingerprint check prior to installation access.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) or Rapid Gate Pass if required.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and a government background check.
Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
Must be either a US citizen or a US permanent resident with a minimum of 3 years legal residency in the United States.
