AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and hardworking Railway Signals Engineer for immediate employment. Incumbent may be based out of either our Edmonton or Calgary office and will join the Transportation group as part of the Signals team.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Provide professional guidance and technical information to assigned personnel, organize and coordinate with other engineering and operating groups
Prepare logic design concepts for both standard and unique situations to meet specific project requirements
Prepare specification documents for contractor use
Assess complete engineering design packages to ensure conformance to specific project requirements and established principles and procedures
Identify and quantify all material required to meet specific project requirements
Prepare quotations and indicates possible cost/deliver problems and includes recommendations to resolve problems
Independently prepare estimates for assigned projects following established guidelines and clear and concise submittals containing the appropriate documentation, identifying deviations
Review test procedures to ensure compliance to specific project testing requirements
Preparation of design plans for grade crossings and typical railroad installations (end-of-sidings, intermediate signals, etc.)
Identify training requirements and assists in the development and implementation of both internal and external programs
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
Proficient with AutoCAD and/or Microstation
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong technical and analytical skills
Must be a good team worker and decision maker
Strong understanding of SCADA, PLCs and RTUs
Must possess a valid driver's license
Experience in North American Train Control Systems and railway crossing design
Experience with Calgary Transit LRT signals
Completion of Canadian Electrical Code course
