AECOM is seeking a Project accountant to be based in our Calgary, Alberta location.
This position is Responsible for summarizing the organization's current financial status by the analysis of financial reports and the reconciliation and preparation of external and internal reporting documents. Participates in the development and implementation of budgetary control systems and the provision of budgeting/planning information to managers. Provides guidance to managers regarding budget preparation and related issues. Assists in the development of policies and procedures regarding strategic financial management. May provide guidance to more junior staff. Typically has a post-secondary degree in Finance/Accounting/Economics and has obtained (or is working towards) a professional accounting designation. Generally has 5 - 7 years of accounting/financial experience.
May include the following responsibilities:
Responsible for analyzing and reconciling corporate accounts, such as intercompany
Develop a process to report backlog information for entire company
Assist with the preparation of the monthly Financial Reporting Package
Assist with month end and quarter end close duties and preparation of reporting requirements for our US parent
Prepare information for acquisitions
Provide ad- hoc reporting, analysis and support to the overall accounting group
An accounting degree and working towards a designation (CA, CMA, CGA)
Professional Designation required
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a financial reporting capacity preferably within construction
CA or CMA or CGA preferred
Exceptional Microsoft Excel skills, in particular the advanced functions of excel
Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze reports, problem solve, and perform reconciliations
Post designation experience preferably in a construction company
Critical Accountabilities / Core duties of the role:
Reporting to Finance Manager to maintenance services. Accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. Integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the company, manage complex issues within functional area of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.
