Position Title Air Quality Environmental Engineer
Canada - Alberta
AECOM’s Calgary office is currently seeking an Air Quality Environmental Engineer to join our team of young and dynamic professionals within our Environment Business Line.
The role entails:
Working on specialized air quality and air pollution control projects, air quality compliance and monitoring programs and environmental permitting and approvals.
Preparing air dispersion and noise models using modeling software such as AERMOD, CALPUFF, and CadnaA.
Field work, both local and across North America, including ambient air quality monitoring and sampling, as well as noise monitoring.
Field preparation, including ordering laboratory supplies, organizing field equipment, and preparation of Health and Safety Plans and quality management plans.
Coordination with analytical laboratories for sampling programs.
Office duties include summarizing and reporting data collected in the field, evaluation of field and laboratory data, tabulation and evaluation of data, and analyzing project-specific data.
Completion of personal administration, including record-keeping, correct and timely submission of timesheets, expense reports, etc.
Greenhouse gas emission inventories, planning, and audits.
Environmental impact assessments and other permitting applications.
Support other environmental business line teams for work such as groundwater and soil monitoring. Working with the team of junior, intermediate, and senior air quality and environmental professionals on a wide variety of major infrastructure, manufacturing, mining and oil and gas opportunities. Interacting and supporting other offices across Canada and the US.
Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering;
Bachelor of Science (Meteorology).
Experience in or understanding of air dispersion modelling, air quality monitoring/sampling, emission inventories
An understanding of federal and provincial environmental laws and regulations, especially those pertaining to air quality and air pollution control
Knowledge of, and proficiency with the MS Office suite of programs
Excellent communication skills including report writing, oral presentations, and direct verbal communication
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team within a large organization
Willingness to travel to client sites.
Previous experience conducting air or noise modelling including AERMOD, CALPUFF and CadnaA
Previous experience conducting environmental sampling (esp. Air or Noise) at or around industrial sites
Previous experience conducting large scale, multi-source emission estimation/emission inventories
Previous experience creating greenhouse gas inventories
Previous experience processing meteorological data
Previous experience designing and implementing source testing programs
