About the Business Line
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.
AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly-motivated Socioeconomic Specialist for immediate employment in our Burnaby office to support projects in the oil & gas, mining, power and municipal infrastructure sectors.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Design, lead and manage social, economic, and cultural-related research programs associated with environmental assessment projects (notably baseline reports and effects assessments)
Prepare socio-economic, management plans and monitoring programs to support environmental assessments in accordance with provincial and/or federal regulatory requirements
Socioeconomic research and field data collection
Socio-economic data interpretation and analysis
Provide socioeconomic assessments to inform environmental assessment and permitting applications, environmental screenings and environmental baseline / monitoring programs
Preparation and presentation of compelling technical reports, presentations and proposals
Support indigenous consultation / engagement and public participation activities including meeting planning, coordination and logistics
Collaborate with other disciplines to guide planning and design processes
Complete tasks on schedule and on budget
Bachelor's Degree in economics, social sciences or related social or environmental sciences discipline
5+ years relevant experience with a minimum of 2 years socio-economic impact assessment and community engagement experience
Strong economic / quantitative social science analysis experience
Strong understanding of First Nation interests and working relationships with various First Nation communities
Experience and knowledge of environmental assessment methods and applicable environmental and socioeconomic assessment legislation and policy (provincial, territorial and federal)
Strong technical writing skills
Exceptional analytical skills and critical thinking with demonstrated skills in quantitative and qualitative analysis, statistical tools and analysis
Ability to work independently on multiple projects in a team environment
Skills with Microsoft Office applications
Working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Adapting and responding to changing project demands
Valid Driver’s License
Ability to analyze and interpret technical material and develop written and graphical content for non-technical audiences
Experience working on major development projects in BC EAO and CEAA processes
