AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level Environmental Technician for employment in the Buffalo, NY office. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope
Collect and enter data, and apply technical principles and theories
Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance
Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Provide reliable professional service in the field and office
Perform environmental resource field assessments including wetlands, streams, and threatened/endangered species
Coordinate preparation of GIS or CAD figures from the data acquisition phase
Prepare environmental reports and permit related documents for submission to clients and regulators
Possess general knowledge of stormwater related permitting and associated field inspection work
Work with a team to issue project documents
Independently conduct environmental resource assessments both desk-top and in the field
Implement health and safety plan procedures
Work out-of-town as the need arises
Communicate with regulators to achieve project goals
Develop mitigation plans to address project-related impacts
Be knowledgeable of state and federal regulations associated with environmental permitting
Prepare stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPPs) and conduct SWPPP inspections
Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific discipline (e.g., environmental science, soil science, agriculture, geology or any scientific related field)
Knowledge of environmental data collection, identification, investigation, and data entry
Candidate must have excellent technical writing skills and be able to prepare environmental reports and permit applications
Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office (word, excel, project, powerpoint) and Adobe acrobat
