About the Business Line
We deliver creative solutions for building projects for industry, government, commercial and leisure sectors. Our building engineering specialists have expertise in structural and building services engineering, fire engineering, acoustics, facades and seismic design. We embed sustainability principles in every design.
Aecom are currently recruiting for a Regional Director to manage a full scope of our Building Engineering division (Civil, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical & Sustainabilty) from our Bristol office.
The Bristol office is a large new multidisciplinary office, situated opposite the gothic St Mary Redcliffe, one of the largest churches in England. With its central location, it is only 10 minutes from the national rail station, and 10 minute walk away from the city centre and vibrant harbourside. Along with its thriving sports and social club it is a friendly, busy and motivated office, who’s Buildings team get involved in local and national projects. In terms of Building Engineering, it is a UK centre of excellence for education, healthcare, defence and rail buildings as well as sustainability.
The office itself has a core Building Engineering group of 20+ and is a growth area for our Building Engineering divisiono at Aecom. The successful Regional Director will work in a multi-disciplinary office numbering 70+ staff and in addition to Building Engineering the office also looks after disciplines including Project Management, Quantity Surveying & Transportation Consultancy.

o Bae Baglan School, Neath: A new build £30m Primary / Secondary School (3 to 19). (AECOM: Services MEP)
o Llandysul School, Cardiff: A new build £18m Secondary School. (AECOM: Services MEP / C&S / PM / QS)
o Cardiff & Vale College: A new build £40m FE College Campus. (Services MEP)
o Gwent SCCC: A new build £200m acute hospital which we’re delivering through the Design for Life Framework. (AECOM: Services MEP)
o Midland Metropolitan Hospital, Birmingham: A new build £300m acute hospital. (AECOM: Services MEP)
The role itself will be to manage all aspects of the Building Engineering team in Bristol with a primary focus to be external marketing in the local market to maintain repeat business from local clients and increase local profile and workload. In addition to this you will coordinate with PCC leadership & business area's to grow the Buildings & Places division in Bristol. Finally you will participate in coordination of wider Building Engineering in the Business Unit and beyond to share workload, resources and best practice. Whilst the above will be the main objectives of the role, the Regional Director can expect to be involved in a various workload to help support the growth of Aecom in the South West region.
Proven track record in managing a large group of people
Experience in profitable financial management of a business
Proven sales/marketing skills; self starting (able to make cold calls, seek out leads), respected by piers in the industry, good local contacts, proven record in writing submissions/bids
Ability to generate a strategy for growth of the business including a detailed sector based plan with hard delivery targets.
Degree and chartership ideal but not essentail
