About the Business Line
We address the complete spectrum of energy challenges, including clean and renewable energy, energy efficiency and carbon management, hydropower and dams, thermal, geothermal and wind power generation, and transmission and distribution.
Aecom are currently recruiting a Principal Thermal Mechanical Engineer from a Mechanical, Process or Chemical Engineering background to join our established Power Generation Division ideally based in either Bristol, Nottingham or Chesterfield.
As a Principal Thermal Mechanical Engineer, you will effectively act as a Senior Project Manager who will take responsibility for the management, design and supervision of large thermal power projects including Power Plant Development, Construction and or Commissioning, as well as leading multi-disciplinary engineering assignments.
You will ideally have a background working with utility providers such as E.ON, SSE, Scottish Power, N Power, EdF, GdF or have worked with major Power Plant suppliers including Siemens, GE, Alstom or Doosan Babcock.
The successful Thermal Mechanical Engineer will also have a willingness to work on UK, European and International based projects and is open to some overseas travel, typically for 1-4 weeks at a time.
You will be able to demonstrate experience including:
• Project and engineering management of coal, biomass and/or gas fired power station developments including feasibility studies, concept design, detailed design, site supervision, commissioning, testing and acceptance, etc.
• Leading and managing a multidiscipline team of engineers and technicians
• Extensive knowledge of the major power generation technologies and the major generation equipment OEMs
• Familiarity with the private power project development process, in both UK and internationally
• Familiarity with thermal analysis software, such as ThermFlow, Gate Cycle, PEACE as a user or manager
• Extensive experience in preparation of technical specifications for EPC and BOP contracts for the implementation of power projects
• Familiarity with DCS control systems and their functional structure
• Familiarity with power station concepts, layout and ancillary systems
• An interest and willingness to take part in the business development of the thermal engineering team is essential
You will be a mechanical, process or chemical engineer and will be chartered and degree educated in one of those disciplines.
