Job Summary

AECOM’s Water Infrastructure Team is looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer who has a passion for technical excellence and is looking to further develop their experience in delivering multi-disciplinary projects.

As a highly experienced engineer, you will play an integral role in the strategic vision and growth of the team, mentoring and developing emerging engineers in order to shape our future professionals.

This role will give you the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects throughout Queensland, Northern NSW as well as Asia Pacific. This role will focus on project managing and delivering mechanical design packages associated with pumping stations and equipment, water and wastewater treatment plants and fire protection systems on projects across all industries including municipal water and wastewater, defence, coal seam gas, and transport.

You will provide expert mechanical engineering design, advice, review and approval whilst maintaining the high standards of delivery excellence established by the team. The role will include site visits as part of customer, design and construction management activities and will be responsible for business development activities and growing the capability of the team.

Minimum Requirements

• 10+ years’ relevant professional experience;

• Demonstrated experience in industrial and municipal water and/or waste water projects within a dynamic consulting and design environment;

• Proven examples of work within water and waste water pump station, pipeline and treatment plant design, construction and commissioning;

• Well-developed client and stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.

Your ability to deliver expert engineering services and drive ‘best for project’ outcomes whilst supporting and driving a culture of performance within the team will be the keys to your success in this role.

Preferred Qualifications

• You will hold a bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and will be a Registered Professional Engineer QLD (RPEQ) – required.

• Experience in Project Management will be highly regarded.
