Our Water team in Brisbane is seeking an enthusiastic graduate who is interested in developing their skills. We are looking for an agile individual who loves problem solving and has an excellent approach to client/customer service. As part of an international, multi-disciplinary organisation, you will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects.

Your development

Our Growing Professional Skills (GPS) graduate program is designed to help you bridge the gap between formal education and the workplace. The GPS program is spread across three years and comprises a range of core competencies and recommended training. As part of the program, we work with you to develop a plan, outlining your goals and required actions, and provide training that will be reviewed every six months.

Along with local site visits, technical seminars, and internal and external training, AECOM connects you with local and global teams to source knowledge and experience, which creates an invaluable network that helps you learn, grow, and develop your professional skills.

Minimum Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • To provide technical support and assistance to team and project managers;

  • Limited exercise of judgment required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives. Receives close supervision on all aspects of assignments.

  • Performs assignments designed to develop professional knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard scientific techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out tasks

  • Performs mechanical design calculations, prepares drawings and other tasks as required.

  • Develop good working relationships with team, internal & external clients during delivery of projects

  • Undertakes internal training and accreditations relevant to advancement within your profession

Preferred Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mechanical), or other qualifications as deemed acceptable by AECOM and the Institution of Engineers Australia.

  • 0-3 years’ experience)

Minimum Requirements

  • Effective time management skills, including the ability to plan and organise own competing priorities;

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and numeracy skills, with ability to draft correspondence and reports,

  • Good problem solving – and ability to create solutions to operational or technical problems;

  • Demonstrated abilities of drive, initiative and commitment in carrying out the duties and contributing to the team; and

  • Proven ability to work co-operatively, safely and ethically in a multi disciplinary team environment.

Experience

  • Ideally 0-3 years’ experience of mechanical engineering in a consulting engineering environment;

  • Water / Wastewater / Waste Treatment industry or project experience;

  • Pumps and Piping experience advantageous

  • Demonstrated trouble shooting, problem solving and optimisation skills/techniques

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of industrial wastewater treatment processes including membrane systems (advantageous but not pre-requisite)

  • Knowledge of networks, pumps and piped systems including knowledge and skills in fluid modelling (advantageous but not pre-requisite)

  • Knowledge of HACCP and HAZOP processes (beneficial but not pre-requisite)

  • Dynamic modelling experience (desirable);

  • Knowledge of and experience with the following software packages:

  • Bentley Hammer or similar (advantageous)

  • Plant 3D (advantageous)

  • Autocad (advantageous)

  • MS Project (advantageous)

  • An understanding of Process and instrumentation diagrams (PID) (advantageous)
