AECOM has an exciting opportunity for a junior hydrogeologist to join our Brisbane based Geoscience and Remediation Services workgroup. You will be trained and mentored by our team of hydrogeologists which predominantly works with coal seam gas, mining and government clients. Your time will be predominantly field based, but will include office based report writing and data compilation and interrogation.
Our Growing Professional Skills (GPS) graduate program is designed to help you bridge the gap between formal education and the workplace. The GPS program is spread across three years and comprises a range of core competencies and recommended training. As part of the program, we work with you to develop a plan, outlining your goals and required actions, and provide training that will be reviewed every six months.
Along with local site visits, technical seminars, and internal and external training, AECOM connects you with local and global teams to source knowledge and experience, which creates an invaluable network that helps you learn, grow, and develop your professional skills.

Collect, compile, verify, and interpret the results of hydrogeological field tests
Design and supervise the installation of water supply and monitoring bores, including geological logging
Sample groundwater, soils, and sediments
Prepare factual hydrogeological reports
Maintain effective written and verbal communication with AECOM personnel, clients and subcontractors
Work closely with project team, to develop suitable scope of work to provide project solutions; respond flexibly to changing client and project needs
Manage budgets and validation of subcontractor costs
Liaise with laboratories and field equipment suppliers
Undertake calibration and maintenance of field equipment
Develop and maintain databases using Equis or Esdat
Develop conceptual groundwater models, cross-sections, and groundwater contours
You will have:
Bachelor’s degree in Science or Civil Engineering with Geology, specialising in hydrogeology; post graduate qualification is a plus
Manual (open) driver’s licence
Ability and willingness to work remotely in the field, often in rural Queensland Excellent levels of written and oral communication
A strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn, and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline driven environment
Previous experience in site investigations, drilling, geological logging, or sampling is a benefit
Preferred Experiences and Capabilities
Experience conducting and interpreting the results of hydrogeological field tests
Understanding of the construction methods used for installing groundwater monitoring bores
Water level monitoring experience including monitoring of water levels and working with water level equipment including Vibrating Wire Piezometers and automated water level loggers
Water quality sampling programs experience
A practical knowledge of water bore construction and infrastructure
HSE Plan experience
