Job Summary

Our successful technology team is growing and we are seeking a Senior Consultant (Intelligent Transport Systems) to join the team in our Birmingham office. This post would suit a proactive, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual looking to advance their career in a dynamic and forward thinking field, applying the latest developments in technology and ICT to solving transport challenges. A keen desire to apply technology in the transport domain will be key to being a success in this post. We would however consider candidates with a general IT background with experience of Telecoms, Systems and Networks from outside of transport related roles . We would consider the role on either a full or part-time basis and are happy to look at a range of different working patterns

AECOM’s Technology team has an established track record of successfully delivering major ITS schemes to clients across the UK and internationally. The Birmingham team works a variety of projects, providing strategic advice and concept, preliminary and detailed design services for a wide range of traffic and public transport schemes. The team also supports other AECOM business lines where their projects include a technology element.

We are looking to grow the technology team with individuals who have an enthusiasm for technology and are able to work in projects that deliver effective and innovative solutions for our clients.

The chosen candidate will be expected to:

  • Project Manage AECOM commissions developing Intelligent Transport Solutions for clients.

  • Review current and emerging technologies with a view to deploying them to solve real world problems for clients.

  • Undertake problem analysis and prepare solution options.

  • Undertake feasibility and detailed design tasks.

  • Check that the quality of technical deliverables is in line with the client’s brief and AECOM’s quality procedures.

  • Attend meetings and engage with clients at various locations across the UK.

  • Support the drafting of tender documents for clients and participate in tender evaluation.

  • Support in writing fee proposal and bids.

Minimum Requirements

The candidate should have:

  • An Engineering degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Electronic and Systems, Computing or in a related science or technical discipline.

  • Experience of working in technology related projects, providing an understanding of ICT, networking, telecommunications or similar that can be applied to transport.

  • Have previous experience in Project Management of Technology projects.

  • Good technical and communication (verbal and writing) skills.

  • A commitment to Health and Safety in an office environment and on project sites.

  • A willingness to occasionally work away from home for short periods in the UK and overseas.

  • Experience in supporting and developing junior members of ITS team.

Preferred Qualifications

The candidate is likely to be working towards an appropriate professional status with membership of a relevant professional institution. Support will be provided to help the candidate achieve this.
