About the Business Line
We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.
AECOM we are actively looking to expand our core tunnelling business with a Principal Tunnelling Engineer in our Birmingham office.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to manage and further develop our team in Birmingham while also playing an active role in an expanding the business within the UK and overseas.
This is a challenging role involving the management of a team of technical professionals who have significant experience in the transport and utility sectors. You will need to demonstrate experience of leading and developing a similar team while also running projects in their own right.
You will be responsible for meeting agreed business targets, managing resources and for identifying, developing and managing business opportunities.
It is essential that you are able to communicate effectively to internal and external clients, both verbally & in writing. You must also be able to structure & prioritise work effectively through close cooperation with the team within the group as a whole.
Importantly, this position requires the candidate must also have the ability to work independently without losing initiative & focus.
The successful candidate must have experience leading teams on tunnelling or underground projects.
The candidate must be interested in tunnelling projects and promoting the tunnelling activities in the transport, power and utility sectors.
The candidate must have the capability to satisfy client and business expectations and be able to consider the wider financial and commercial implications of their and their team’s actions.
The candidate must also have the ability to work independently without losing initiative & focus.
The candidate must hold a minimum qualification of BSc, preferably in Civil Engineering, Civil & Structural Engineering or Engineering Geology.
The candidate must be a chartered and a member of a professional body (eg MICE).
Membership and an active interest in the British Tunnelling Society and other professional societies would also be advantageous.
