AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Transportation/Civil Design Engineer for employment in the Birmingham, AL office.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Design highways and roadways for projects with Alabama DOT, municipal and local counties.
Will work closely with project managers and project engineers in the tasks involved with the development of civil engineering plans
Geometric design, drainage design, signing and striping, traffic control, erosion and sediment control, and utility design
Occasional travel to job sites, plan review meetings, or other project specific tasks
Work in MicroStation or AutoCAD, Microsoft Suite programs, AutoCAD Civil 3D, InRoads and various hydraulic programs
Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering or other related field required
2+ years of civil engineer experience
Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)
Knowledge of InRoads or Civil 3Dsoftware
Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time to maximize efficiency
EIT certification strongly preferred, but not required
PE certification encouraged
Surveying and survey processing knowledge a plus
Alabama DOT standards knowledge
