AECOM’s Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM’s Government business line and is comprised of three divisions — International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. GSS has the international presence, personnel networks and procurement infrastructure to deliver support for any mission, anywhere. We optimize the reliability, availability and sustainability of equipment, logistics systems and facilities for clients around the world. GSS supports the U.S. Government, non-U.S. Governments and industry clients with worldwide program management, planning, design, operations and maintenance, logistics, aviation services, security, international development, environmental and civil engineering and mission and intelligence support.

Job Summary

AECOM has an immediate opportunity for a Junior Data Center Technician to support a government agency’s capabilities in Washington, D.C (Union Station / Red Line).


Provide “smart hands” assistance to include rebooting equipment, reseating line cards, and providing equipment status information to remote technicians

Maintain detailed data center inventory using NLYTE

Run cables in the data center to include fiber and copper

Terminate copper UTP cables

Rack equipment that may exceed 50 pounds

On a daily basis, perform proactive routine visual inspection of the equipment in the data center

Resolve and update request and incident tickets in ServiceNow

Target hourly rate = $15.40 per hour w/full benefits.

This position requires occasional travel to the remote data center for installation work.

There may be requirements for work outside of the assigned work hours including nights and weekends.

Potential Shifts.

5:30 PM -2:00 AM Monday through Friday

10:00 AM – 6:30 PM Monday through Friday

Minimum Requirements

Must have a minimum of 2 years of related experience in Data Center support, administrating installations and cabling activities.


  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and Visio

  • Strong written and oral communication skills to document and update processes and procedures

  • Ability to lift in excess of 50 pounds


  • BICSI certification

  • Experience with ServiceNow

  • Experience with NLYTE which is a data center infrastructure management tool.

  • Basic knowledge of LINUX and or Windows to follow detailed instructions to configure a PXE boot.

May be required to work evenings and weekends. Participation in a 24x7 on call rotation may be required. May be required to travel to SEC locations and data centers (<10% travel required)
