Environment

Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary

The Deputy Business Unit Leader (DBUL) will report directly to the Gulf Coast ENV Area Business Unit Leader (BUL). This role will encompass the geography of LA, MS, AR and part of Houston Metro. As such, this position can be located in any one of these geographies. The DBUL works with the ABUL, Finance and Accounting (F&A) and practice leaders to provide operational management of a portion of the Gulf Coast ENV organization.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyzes operational performance for Environment business line and proactively identifies area of improvement - This includes analyzing key KPIs such as utilization, gross margin, SG&A, EBITA and DSO

  • Collaborates with BUL and Area Operations Manager to develop and implement solutions

  • Works with BULs and F&A to forecast volume of work and identify deviations from plan/outlook

  • Partners with Project Controls to continuously improve operational excellence - Expected to act in a leadership role to drive improvement

  • Communicates with staff to ensure that all initiatives are delivered and executed in a positive and effective manner

  • Key Performance Indicators include: Gross and Net Revenue, Direct Personnel Expense (Utilization), Direct Labor Multiplier, As Sold Margin, Gross Margin, Contribution Margin, EBITA, and DSO

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 10+ years of experience

  • Operational knowledge of AECOM management systems such as APIC, ABC, etc and AECOM’s financial management processes

  • Collaborative style; team player

  • Willingness to see opportunity and act

  • Ability to lead by influence, be decisive and have a strategic mindset

  • Loves challenge

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience preferably with AECOM or legacy companies

  • Proficiency in using APIC and executing EACs

  • Proven financial and operational acumen

  • Experience in process optimization and team leadership

  • Willingness to challenge the status quo and those stuck in it
