About the Business Line

We deliver creative solutions for building projects for industry, government, commercial and leisure sectors. Our building engineering specialists have expertise in structural and building services engineering, fire engineering, acoustics, facades and seismic design. We embed sustainability principles in every design.

Job Summary

We currently has an exciting opportunity for a Civil Engineer to join our Infrastructure South division who manage the Highways and Drainage relating to building projects and master planning. The position will be based in our Basingstoke Office.

Our Infrastructure South division currently consists of 50 Engineers based across offices in Chelmsford, Birmingham, Telford, London and Basingstoke. Our Engineers typically come from a highways and/or drainage background and have significant experience relating to these services around new building developments. We can offer a wide range of project experience and our clients/sectors include Housing Developments, Shopping Centres, Airports and Education.

You will be joining an established division who will give you the opportunity to manage your own projects from inception to completion which allows you the freedom to work under your own initiative so you must be comfortable working under minimal supervision. In addition to this you will have the chance to develop and manage more junior and intermediate engineers, providing a natural progression into team management.

Minimum Requirements

The successful Senior/Principal Civil Engineer will have/be:

Experienced in the production of detailed design information, technical reports, drawings, tender documents & specifications for public and private developments

• Experienced in the preparation of designs to Sewers for Adoption and Building Regulations Part H. Familiarity with the Flood and Water Management Act Manual for Streets, Design Manual for Roads & Bridges and relevant British or European Standards would also be highly advantageous

• Experienced in the design of highways and drainage infrastructure to adoptable standards including the negotiation of Section 104, Section 38 and Section 278 Agreements would be highly advantageous.

• Ability to use computer modelling software for drainage, ground works and highway design (Windes, Civils 3D, PDS or similar).

Preferred Qualifications

The successful Senior/Principal Civil Engineer will have:

• Chartered or nearing chartership with a UK recognised Institution

• A relevant degree in Civil Engineering
