Our Transport Planning teams plan and evaluate future transport schemes, forecast demand and revenue, develop business cases, undertake economic appraisal and market analysis, as well as look at the relationships between spatial planning and transport. We undertake transport modelling at a national and regional level right down to detailed micro-simulation where individual roads, public transport systems and crowd movements are analysed.
The Transport Planning team is expanding to meet the demands of our wide portfolio of clients, worldwide. This role has been created to meet existing demand and is intended to grow over time, offering extensive career progression potential.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in transport planning across several areas, including strong strategic and micro-simulation modelling experience.
The candidate is expected to have good knowledge on junction modelling, and should have hand on experience on using the relevant software packages.
Knowledge and understanding of strategic modelling technique and use of relevant strategic modelling software is desirable.
We are seeking someone able to manage junior technical staff, undertake project management tasks and communicate clearly with other disciplines and clients on a regular basis.
Demonstrates to have developed a sound appreciation of micro and or macro modelling with good knowledge of wider transport planning.
Demonstrates confidence and capability to supervise junior staff.
Has past experience of managing larger tasks or small / medium size projects.
Demonstrates knowledge of project budgetary issues and capable of delivering work to time and budget.
Possesses good communication skills.
Capable of setting out client reports and good report writing skills.
Able to manage client contact and liaison.
Has good appreciation of project risk issues and applies these to day-to-day tasks
Degree/Masters/Doctorate qualification in an analytical subject (e.g. geography, mathematics, economics, engineering or Architecture).
Membership of a relevant professional chartered institute or near to achieving accreditation
Experience in transport modelling and forecasting of highway and/or public transport demand and supply.
Experience in a number of relevant transport modelling software packages e.g.at least one or more of: VISSIM, Paramics, Aimsun, Transyt, Linsig, SATURN, CUBE, EMME, TRIPS, TRICS, TUBA etc. will be desirable.
