Job Summary

The AECOM Baltimore, Maryland, office has an exciting opportunity for a Train Control Engineer to join our team in the Transportation Business Unit. As a Train Control Engineer you work closely with the Client and report to an assigned Task Manager.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Participate in design, construction, maintenance or project management

  • Design infrastructure assets including signals, train stops, track circuits, train detection systems, point operation and detection systems, traction (electrical current) return arrangements, vital interlocking systems, SCADA/telemetry systems, and active level crossings

  • Perform testing and commissioning of new signaling systems and maintaining signaling and associated supporting systems

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

  • 10+ years of experience in transportation related activities, including 5+ years of which have been spent performing duties related to this position

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent computer skills including advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite

  • Proficiency in maintaining necessary records are a high priority.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Experience or knowledge with Light Rail, Heavy Rail Systems, and Train Control Wayside and Carborne Engineering

  • Must be eligible to work in United States of America

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of relevant work experience

  • Knowledge of the Transit and Transportation Industry

  • Experience with Maintenance, Operation and Engineering

Understanding of the following attributes:

  1. Contract Management

  2. Engineering designs, plans, specifications, and cost estimates related to train control systems

  3. Familiarity with other transit systems disciplines such as traction power, overhead and third rail contact systems

  4. Ability to evaluate overall efficiency of the mode and offer revisions and/or recommendations for new workflow procedures

  5. Develop remediation plans to maintain aging train control and associated systems

  6. Train control and Power distribution systems

  • Knowledge of Project Management
