Job Summary

The AECOM Baltimore, Maryland, office has an exciting opportunity for a Resident Engineer to join our team in the Transportation Business Unit working for the Maryland Port Authority. This position is for night shift work, 7pm – 7am, 10 hour work days, 4 days per week, at the World Trade Center in downtown Baltimore. As a Resident Engineer you will communicate specifications and directives to contractors and relay job-site problems to the client. This role implements contractor compliance by enforcing contract documents, regulations and codes. The Resident Engineer may also supervise and direct the activities of other assigned personnel. Assignments will have clear and specified objectives.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor the contractor activities to ensure the work conform to the contract plans and specifications

  • Communicate MPA specifications and directives to the contractor

  • Relay jobsite issues effectively to MPA Manager

  • Oversee construction inspection support staff

  • Conduct progress meetings

  • Review project schedules

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience on general construction projects as a Resident Engineer, Senior Inspector or superintendent

  • Familiarity with standard construction terms, reports, procedures, construction drawings, calculations and specifications

  • Possess expert technical skills

  • Ability to coordinate and manage technical staff

  • Ability to resolve conflict and find expeditious solutions to field problems

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent computer skills

  • Proficiency in maintaining necessary records

  • A track record of successful supervision of job site personnel
