Job Summary

AECOM has an exciting opportunity in Afghanistan on the Afghanistan - EAGLE contract for a

Mechanic-HVAC. Performs troubleshooting, installation, repairs and refills FSS system on a wide range of Military equipment. Performs HVAC troubleshooting, recovery, recharge, and installation as required. Performs mechanical troubleshooting and repair work on a wide range of Military equipment. Performs refilling of FM-200, Monoammonium-Phosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate, and Petrotech 25 fire extinguishing agents. Responsible for implementing and maintaining the shop safety program as well as providing daily work assignments to other maintenance personnel assigned to work center. Performs any other duties as assigned. Ensure strict compliance to safety practices and support the AC FIRST Safety Policies and Procedures. Instills a safety first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries. Adhere to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in support of the AC FIRST Quality Management System. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • 1-3 years of FSS and/or HVAC experience, is required.

  • EPA 609 certification in vehicle HVAC recovery, recharge and installation or equivalent, is required.

  • Work experience may be substituted for educational requirements and/or educational achievements may be substituted for years of experience. Example: Two (2) years of experience is equivalent to (2) years of college and vice versa.

  • NACI / Tier 1 for US Citizens and PCC for Non US Citizens.

  • Must have a basic understanding of HAZMAT and OSHA procedures.

  • Must have experience with FSS/HVAC use of job specific tools.

  • Must be responsible for rebuilding, inspecting, and testing the serviceability of certain fire extinguisher components by the technical specifications given by the manufacturer.

  • Must be proficient in the proper handling of hazardous materials such as, heptafluoropropane (FM-200), Monoammonium-phosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Petrotech 25, and dry nitrogen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with fire suppression systems, is preferred.
