Job Summary

AECOM has an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned and talented QA Testing Manager. This position oversees the testing group of a high-level AECOM client within the rail transportation industry. Responsible for the supervision of a quality assurance (QA) team and the identification, documentation and promotion of QA best practices. Establishes software quality standards for life cycle, documentation, development methods, testing, and maintenance. Specifies functional and non-functional software requirements. Provides oversight to the Quality Assurance Team, prioritizing testing-support related activities, and monitoring all test team objectives.Verifies that facilities and systems (such as power, train control, automatic fare collection, SCADA, data network, radio, telecommunications, copper and fiber optic cables, CCTV, HVAC, escalators and elevators, fire protection, security, and other related equipment/systems) are tested in compliance with contract specifications, governing standards, and in accordance with the Customer Testing Program Plan


  • Partners with the business, product, and development team, serving as the lead QA resource, through all aspects of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including business requirements, functional specifications, integration and regression testing using currently testing methodologies and tools.

  • Provides high-level of functionality, usability, and testability expertise during the requirements phase. Implements efficient and effective test plans for new systems, problems and/or enhancements.

  • Establishes and leverages formal QA process, and oversees all aspects of quality assurance including metrics capture.

  • Establishes Test Plans, Test Cases and general standards for the testing processes and procedures.

  • Provides QA expertise for Business Development Activities and creates/reviews QA Plans for proposals.

  • Guides team members on the analysis and dissection of system requirements and technical specifications to create and execute test cases. Oversees software tests and diagnostics.

  • Manages the evaluation process of testing results to ensure system applications are free from defects and identifies areas for improvement.

  • Oversees walk-through, inspection, review and user group meetings for quality assurance.

  • Leads the production implementation verification and hold team members accountable for validating system quality.

  • Oversees the evaluation of products and services for adherence to government directives, standards, and guidelines concerning quality assurance. Establish policies and procedures for the QA team to follow.

  • Works with project teams to identify and establish quantitative measurements and techniques for measuring software quality. Oversees the implementation of efficiencies as opportunities are identified.

  • Leads test case reviews, designs reviews, and changes control activities. Documents and reports issues discovered during testing and oversee the resolution.

  • Executes assignments according to the schedule and escalates if deviations are foreseen or occur.

  • Serves as the lead to the Quality Analyst team, providing performance appraisal feedback and makes recommendations on hiring, corrective action, and termination decisions.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent related engineering field; combined amount of education and experience may be substituted in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree

  • 8 years testing experience

  • Experience in designing and/or testing software, complex structural components and mechanical, electrical, electronic, electromechanical, and communications equipment

  • Understanding proper wiring methods; must be familiar with standards, codes, and specifications used in testing such as IEC, IEEE, NEC, ANSI, NETA, and NFPA

  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills

  • Technical knowledge of software engineering process

  • Experience tasking many testers executing in multiple environments

  • Firm knowledge of testing phases through software lifecycle in fluid environment

  • Experience providing level of effort analysis\estimation for test execution

  • Manual testing oversight and reporting experience required

  • Supervisor of Testing Resources
