About the Business Line


We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and hardworking Project Manager for immediate employment; candidate will physically be working in Decatur, Georgia but will report to the Atlanta, GA office.

Project Managers within the program team are responsible for working with client Project Managers to deliver assigned projects, including:

  • Assuring program standards and protocols are followed.

  • Leading project management functions for assigned projects through planning, design and construction phases:


  1. Oversight and review of progress for Design Consultants (DC), contracted through the client, for completion of Project Implementation Report (PIR)

  2. Coordination and facilitation of procurement process for DC for Design Phase services


  1. Oversight and review of progress of DC contracted through client (or if DB, through DB Team) during design phase

  2. Coordination and facilitation of reviews and meetings with DC and client staff

  3. Construction

  4. Oversight of Construction Manager (CM) contracted through client

  5. Review of RFIs, Submittals, RFS, RFD, Field Orders, CORs and Pay Requests as requested by client


  1. Produce project monthly status reports for submittal to client

  2. Provide information and updates on projects to PMT Program Manager (PgM), Deputy Program Manager and Program Controls team

  3. Provides feedback on project level “lessons learned” to PMT Deputy PgM for PMT’s lessons learned register

Administrative functions:

  1. Manages junior level staff as assigned for projects PM is managing

Program Procedures:

  1. Be familiar with Program processes and champion implementation of these processes, including requiring contractors to meet project milestone dates, provide submittals and work products on required schedule and meet contractual requirements.

  2. Institutes and follows on individual projects, project level procedures for Project Management functions as developed by the PgM and Deputy PgM

Commercial Acumen:

  1. Display sound commercial judgment in dealings with design consultants and construction contractors

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, Business or related field

  • 8+ years of total experience leading projects in the civil engineering and construction fields

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of total experience leading projects in the civil engineering and construction fields, including 5+ years at the Project Manager level on projects or programs in the civil engineering and construction fields

  • Experience in assurances (risk management, contracting, insurances, etc.)

  • Experience with both conventional and design-build contracting

  • Experience with water or wastewater delivery of water / wastewater infrastructure projects

  • Previous experience working embedded within a client organization
