Job Summary

AECOM has an opportunity available for a Communications Specialist to join our Transportation Demand Management (TDM) group; we are seeking a candidate who is well-versed in transportation and travel behavior, along with program management and delivery, marketing and outreach, and program evaluation.

The Communications Specialist is a member of AECOM’s national TDM practice working out of our Midtown Atlanta office. This individual has engagement in multiple local TDM programs including outreach and marketing for Perimeter Connects and Cumberland Commuter Services, while also serving in a support role to a number of programs under AECOM management in states including Massachusetts, Connecticut, Nevada, and Pennsylvania, among others. Each of these TDM programs aims to reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality by encouraging commuters to use green, active transportation modes such as carpooling, public transportation, teleworking and bicycling. Each one also includes strong outreach and marketing components. The Communications Specialist provides broad project support for the various projects across multiple aspects of program delivery including financial monitoring, quality assurance/quality control, performance measures and evaluation, staff development, and marketing and communications.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform a range of transportation demand management and program implementation tasks that support AECOM’s TDM programs in Atlanta and across the US. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serve in a marketing and/or communications role for TDM, transportation and corridor studies/projects

  • Manage outreach and marketing efforts for local TDM initiatives including direct outreach to employers/commuters, networking activities, creation of marketing materials/content, coordinating employer training sessions and engaging stakeholders

  • Provide quality control across multiple projects by reviewing deliverables

  • Spearhead special projects for the TDM practice that could range from research to evaluation and targeted outreach initiatives

  • Contribute to the development of TDM and transportation marketing plans at the local/regional/state levels to support AECOM projects

  • Assist with TDM project pursuits nationwide

  • Coordinate and monitor a central file repository for projects within the national practice

  • Devise new approaches to challenges encountered

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field or some college with equivalent related business experience

  • 3+ years of business development, sales, marketing, outreach or other relevant business experience

  • Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills and experience in handling multiple tasks in an organized and efficient manner

  • Energetic and articulate individual who has the communication skills and persuasiveness necessary to influence, motivate, and inform travelers in the use of travel options

  • Proven track record meeting job performance metrics

  • Ability to achieve objectives through teamwork

  • Must have current valid driver’s license

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft OS

  • General office environment; requires frequent visits to project sites

  • Some heavy lifting (<30 lbs.) may be required

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

  • Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

  • Field office work will require reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a good driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of business development, sales, marketing, outreach or other relevant business experience
