AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated CHAMP Contract Manager for employment in the GDOT Districts 1-6 Statewide centered in Gainesville, Tennille, Thomaston, Tifton, Jessup and Cartersville GA.
AECOM staff shall provide Coordinated Highway Assistance Program (CHAMP) Services to support GDOT State Maintenance Office and District Maintenance Offices. Staff shall serve as an extension of GDOT’s State Maintenance Office and Incident Management Unit (H.E.R.O. Unit) providing the District Maintenance Offices and State Traffic Operation Division with real-time traffic information, identifying highway deficiencies, assisting stranded motorist, removing debris from roadways and providing local authorities with traffic control on accident scenes.
This position supports higher level CHAMP Program Management, GDOT Maintenance Operations, and State Traffic Management Center Operations, in the preparation for data collection, roadway inspections, traffic incident management, scene assessments and motorist assistance. In this position, you will use a significant amount of decision making and use of judgment, as well as providing instructions and information to others.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Develop, review and approve staffing schedules
Manage and report on performance measures, billing and key performance indicators, such as fleet utilization, operator calls for service, response and clearance times, etc
Assist in coordinating Traffic Incident Management Team meetings (TIM TEAMS) for region
Perform routine staff, vehicle and equipment inspections per company requirements
Ensure all safety guidelines, policies and procedures are adhered too, to include personal protection equipment
Assist in Training and Program Oversight
Perform routine route inspections to ensure performance measures and accountability of operators and dispatchers
Meet with GDOT Officials and local authorities, to discuss strategies and best practices for incident management
Supervising and training lower level staff
Supervise a team of CHAMP Operators and Dispatchers, ensuring that all state, federal, and company’s safety compliance, policy and procedures, quality assurance, customer services are being performed
Responsible for all administrative aspects of the CHAMP Program including:
Reviewing and approving operator and dispatch schedules
5+ years’ experience in a supervisory or management role relating to Traffic Incident Management or Dispatch Operations or Roadway Maintenance OR equivalent job related field.
Experience implementing or overseeing temporary traffic control devices procedures per the Manual of Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)
Working knowledge of basic automotive repair
Working knowledge of GDOT policies and procedures
Working knowledge with GDOT Asset management system (AGILE)
Basic knowledge with dispatch procedures and the Traffic Management Center
Demonstrate positive customer service attitude – both to co-workers (internal and external customers)
Must be able to effectively give clear decisive directives to others
Must be able to respond to after hour calls
Must be able to read and decipher written and oral l communications
Must be able to make good sound decision in stressful situations
Must be able to adapt to change
Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
Must possess a valid driver’s license
