Job Summary

AECOM has an opportunity for a Plumbing Engineer to join our established Building and Places team in the Arlington, VA office. This team has a number of large ongoing medical and laboratory projects. Reporting to the Department Manager, in this role you will provide technical competence in plumbing engineering to our current and future projects and provide team leadership to an established team of professionals, including technical oversight, mentorship, and project oversight.

The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing projects on time and on budget with quality meeting client expectations

  • Ensuring compliance of technical and quality standards

  • Promoting mentor / mentee relationships through the engagement of various levels of staff

  • Contributing significantly to the successful design, production, coordination and management of projects

  • Communicating effectively with clients and internal team members in the design and specification development of plumbing building systems

  • Ensuring accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and project documentation in accordance with established QA/QC programs

  • Ensuring that engineering deliverables (i.e. drawings, specifications, reports) comply with applicable regulations

  • Standards, corporate procedures and sound engineering practices

  • Working closely with other discipline engineers, architects, designers and project managers as a key team player within an integrated multi-disciplinary project delivery team

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • 5+ plus years of Plumbing Engineering Design and Project management

  • Demonstrated Leadership Skills

  • Project experience must include large federal government, medical, laboratory, and or pharmaceutical projects or healthcare/ life science projects (sp: medical gas systems)

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit

  • Working knowledge of applicable local and national building codes

  • Proficient in the use of computers for making engineering calculations, spreadsheets, and report writing

  • Must have well-rounded background in plumbing project design and delivery to meet various challenges

  • Strong written communication, presentation, and client interface skills

  • Willing to travel as required

  • Knowledge of sustainable plumbing design and basic LEED building practices

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed Professional Engineer

  • LEED Accredited Professional Credential

  • Certified in Plumbing Design (CPD)

  • Ability to obtain a Government Security Clearance if requested (as evidenced by previously held security clearance) or current Government security clearance preferred
