About the Business Line

Water

We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.

Job Summary

AECOM has been awarded the 5-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract providing production and technical services for the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Risk Mapping, Assessment and Planning (Risk MAP) program from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Under this contract, AECOM provides engineering and other technical services nationwide, including production of effective, flexible and sustainable Risk MAP products to develop and implement tools to protect the United States from floods and other related hazardous conditions.

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist will have a critical role helping facilitate the client’s needs. This person will be an integral part of the team, utilizing their knowledge of GIS, National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), and problem solving skill to support our client. That candidate will need to successfully manage requests from the client as well as support the Federal Register publication progress.

The GIS Specialist, by virtue of the position, may be required to provide surge support during critical national disasters or congressional inquiries.

The successful candidate will provide a broad range of oversight managing teams in providing geospatial support at a national level, functions such as:

  • Respond to various requirements for geospatial products and services

  • Support natural disasters incidents when they occur

  • Create maps or visualization output focused on critical infrastructure and natural disasters

  • Provide primary communication with the client to facilitate all requests with all 10 Region Service Centers

  • Among the PTS providers be able to facilitate, plan, organize and manage all requests from the client on tight deadlines

  • Prepare and maintain internal and external project documentation

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

  • 3+ of related GIS experience (ie: mapping, autocad, engineering, hydrographic, modeling) specific to the water industry

  • Knowledge of the NFIP program to support on-going projects and rapid response requests

  • Excellent quantitative and presentation skills, using software such as MS Excel and MS Power Point to organize data and analyze data

  • US citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree

  • Familiarity with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), FEMA Flood Insurance Studies, especially historical reporting requirements for DFIRM studies, MT-2, and other related studies

  • Ability to analyze and communicate quantitative data to the client to both technical and administrative staff

  • Dynamic, personable and self-motivated personality

  • Exceptional customer service orientation

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Programming skills: Python, FME, SQL

  • DHS/FEMA badge

  • CFM and/or GISP certification
