AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level Electrical Engineer for employment in the Arlington, Va office. Under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer:
Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids
Research and apply building code, regulatory and industry code requirements
Prepare electrical design calculations, utilize electrical design software
Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
The individual will be assigned as part of a team providing power system analysis, conceptual design and/or detailed design on assigned projects
Under direct supervision, evaluates, selects and applies standard electrical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications
Gathers and correlates electrical engineering data associated with assigned projects using established and well-defined procedures
Under direct supervision, exercises judgment in developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
Under direct supervision, develop power system analysis including short circuit analysis, coordination study, and arc flash analysis using either E-TAP or SKM
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering or other related field required
Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)
Ability to apply standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks
Ability to developing details of work by making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with the National Electric Code
Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
Must have experience and/or internship experience with an engineering and/or Architectural firm
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred
Experience with AutoCAD, REVIT or similar graphics packages
Registered engineer in training preferred.
Experience with AGI32 or similar lightning calculation software
Experience with E-TAP or SKP power system analysis software
Basic understanding of Electrical power systems for commercial, Government, and/or institutional facilities
Basic understanding of Lighting and lighting control systems for commercial, Government and institutional facilities
