Job Summary

AECOM is seeking Certified Cost Estimators/Cost Engineers in its Project Management/Construction Management (PMCM) business unit. This position is responsible for providing services related to cost engineering, namely cost estimating. This position will work closely with the AECOM and client team to provide quality cost estimates and cost consulting services. This position is contingent upon award of contract.

The PMCM group of AECOM provides management, coordination, integration, and technical services to public and private clients with large capital programs.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Life-cycle cost analysis

We provide cost and project management services, and specialist consultancy services, to public- and private-sector clients around the world, with a strong presence in Africa, Australia and New Zealand, Europe, the Middle East and the United States.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associates degree in related field

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in Cost Engineering in the Architecture, Engineering, or Construction field

  • Strong familiarity with all architecture and engineering trades and divisions; and construction means, methods, activities, and sequencing

  • Ability to read and comprehend construction drawings, specifications and contract documents

  • Cost Estimating skills, knowledge, and capabilities; including: quantity takeoff, project scoping, and cost estimating

  • Ability to create and review cost estimates, including elements such as quantities, labor, materials, equipment, production rates, overhead costs, contingency, and escalation

  • Experience with the Architecture and Engineering design and budgeting process and development of project cost estimates and schedules

  • Computer skills and experience with cost estimating and project management software tools including: MCACES, MII, PACES, RS Means, MS Project, Primavera, or other software tools related to related to cost estimating

  • Ability to perform self-checks and quality control reviews on deliverables and work within a strict QC process

  • Active facility clearance (S, TS, DOE-Q), or the ability to obtain a facility clearance within 6 months

  • Active professional certification/license (AACEI, PMP, AIA, state license), or the ability to obtain certification within one year

  • Ability to travel and work at federal government client sites

  • Ability to work productively within an integrated team environment

  • Ability to work independently and meet individual and team milestones and deadlines

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Candidate will be required to meet client approval prior to hire

  • Candidate must be a US citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction, or related field

  • 5+ years relevant work experience in Cost Engineering in the Architecture, Engineering, or Construction fields

  • 5+ years’ work experience with DOE, environmental cleanup and restoration; radioactive waste management; and nuclear materials management

  • 5+ years’ work experience and knowledge providing cost engineering services to the US federal government and federal government agencies' cost estimating and project management

  • 5+ years’ work experience in in heavy civil works and building construction cost estimating

  • 5+ years’ work experience with Cost Engineering skills knowledge and experience including: scheduling, risk analysis, constructability analysis, life-cycle cost analysis, project controls, project reviews, EVM, change control, claims, design review in support of budget review and development, value engineering, and program and project management

  • Experience with Crystal Ball or other cost estimating, risk analysis, project management, EVM, and scheduling tools
