Job Summary

AECOM has a great opportunity for an Mechanical Estimator / Preconstruction Lead supporting our program in Annapolis Junction, MD. Supporting US Government customers in various CONUS and OCONUS locations, AECOM performs design and construction projects including New Office Building (NOB) construction, electrical switchgear / regulator / ups / generator replacements and upgrades, office interior renovations, and building assessment surveys. We maintain and operate a CRP (Consolidated Receiving Point) to provide both shipping and receiving of classified and non-classified materials and equipment to support these many projects. The selected candidate will develop Means and Methods for successful implementation and execution of the work, in conjunction with the proposal / project team; prepare equipment /material take-offs and requisitions compliant with the proposal / project and NEC requirements; coordinate with both the Sr. Estimator and his / her staff once takeoffs have been completed in providing timely information to support the proposal schedule; develop RFI (Request for Information) and questions during the proposal phase and coordinate responses to assure conformity with project or proposal requirements; support project needs in coordinating tools, materials and equipment for ongoing projects; devise standardized templates and methods to increase efficiencies in the execution of daily duties; participate in estimate reviews; assist in the preparation of the Basis of Estimate; assist in the preparation of the Estimate Plan; assist in identifying qualified vendors and subcontractors; assist with warehouse support through equipment and material inspection and inventory and reporting information to our administrative staff and perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Construction related discipline or demonstrated combination of equivalent education and experience.

  • 10+ year’s construction and project related experience.

  • Possess a thorough knowledge of all engineering disciplines, construction technologies and job site management. This is a journeymen level position and the first level of Construction Management.

  • Experience in estimating, installation, demolition and supervision is required.

  • Must be a self-starter and maintain vigilance in the execution of assignments.

  • Must be able to develop project plans for execution; both in the proposal and project execution phase.

  • Must be able to pass and maintain a US Government security clearance.

  • Good oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.

  • Position may require travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active, fully adjudicated Top Secret is preferred.

  • Previous experience supporting OCONUS, US Government projects is preferred.
