Job Summary

AECOM has a great opportunity for an Electrical Engineer in Annapolis Junction, MD. This is a Power and Cooling Service Provider program for a mission critical customer responsible for the renovation and modernization of the existing utility infrastructure and buildings. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing engineering calculations and analyses, maintaining and submitting related reports and data on assignments of advanced complexity, and providing technical guidance during events that affect the performance of critical mission systems. This individual will propose engineering solutions and modifications in accordance with the customer requirements. He/she will be responsible for modeling and simulating the electrical infrastructure using the ETAP software, and for maintaining an engineering technical library and informational repositories. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for interacting with other disciplines, project support groups, subcontractors, vendors and customer representatives, and for performing engineering related functions. This position may require travel.

Minimum Requirements

  • Responsible for sustaining the electrical system model database using the ETAP software.

  • Conduct and analyze load flow, short-circuit, protective device coordination and arc-flash studies.

  • Must have an understanding of SCADA systems and Capacity Management Systems.

  • Must have or be capable of obtaining TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience which shall include mechanical and electrical systems, working in a secure atmosphere, experience in data centers (power and cooling), and knowledge in SCADA and Capacity Management Systems.

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university, and Power Systems background.

  • Work with customers to gather and analyze critical information, review engineering plans and propose engineering solutions.

  • Work with the campus model team personnel and field forces conducting surveys and gathering critical information for analysis.

  • Coordinate and interface with other numerous Architectural and Engineering (A/E) firms producing detailed design packages for large campus projects, and be a self-contained engineer.

  • Fully versed in codes and standards (i.e. NEC, IEEE).

  • Must have native-like fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior DOD and CONUS Facilities experience is a strong plus.

  • Knowledge and experience with ETAP software is preferred.

  • Experience with protective device selection and coordination, Time-Current Curves (TCCs) and Arc Flash Reduction Maintenance Settings (ARMS).

  • Experience with analytical skills and recovery of failure of Low Voltage/Amp Circuit Breakers (LVACBs), Overcurrent Relays (OCRs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPSs) for known problems or during unscheduled events (e.g. outages).

  • Professional licensed engineer (PE) in Electrical Engineering preferred but not required.
