Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Outreach Coordinator for employment in West Massachusetts.

In this position, you will be a member of the worksite and school outreach teams on our MassRIDES program, which manages the statewide travel demand management (TDM) and Safe Routes to School programs at the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. Both programs aim to reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality by encouraging Massachusetts residents to use green, active transportation modes such as carpooling, public transportation, and bicycling.

You will be a telework employee who resides in West Massachusetts (County of Franklin, Hampshire, Hampden or Berkshire) following a sales model with monthly, quarterly, and annual performance metrics.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating and managing new and existing partner/client relationships

  • Assisting with worksite-based TDM plans and guide the implementation of commute options programs at employer sites (e.g. carpool, pre-tax transit benefits, compressed work weeks, bicycle programs, commute incentives)

  • Deepening existing MassRIDES worksite partner relationships through frequent contact and follow-up meetings, tracking program implementation and employee participation

  • Increasing participation rates and program awareness among employees at worksite partner locations

  • Generating new MassRIDES worksite partnerships through warm calling and networking

  • Serving as a transportation resource for worksite partners and organizations within assigned territory

  • Conducting onsite events, promotions and marketing activities at partner sites to promote alternative mode use and register employees for MassRIDES programs and services

  • Conducting presentations for stakeholders, employers and commuters

  • Generating measurable results from employer or commuter participation in transportation-related incentive programs

  • Devising new approaches to challenges encountered

  • Developing successful partnerships with existing and new partner schools and their stakeholders

  • Deepening existing SRTS partner relationships through frequent contact and follow-up meetings, tracking program implementation and student participation

  • Promoting bicycling and walking for school trips

  • Educating parents, students, school personnel, and community representatives on the benefits of these modes, as opposed to parent drop-off/pick-up of students

  • Providing customized assistance as schools implement Safe Routes education, encouragement, enforcement, and evaluation activities

  • Assisting with school- and community-based SRTS plans and guiding the implementation of walking and cycling programs

  • Increasing participation rates and program awareness among parents, students and stakeholders at school partner locations

  • Coordinating Safe Routes events at participating schools

  • Generating measurable results from school and student participation in Safe Routes initiatives

  • Reporting on outreach activities and maintaining a current, accurate database of contacts and participation

  • Attending networking and public meetings to raise program visibility

  • Exceeding monthly and quarterly performance metrics

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Sociology, or related field or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience

  • 3+ years of business development, sales, marketing, outreach or other relevant business experience

  • Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills and experience in handling multiple tasks in an organized and efficient manner

  • Energetic, and articulate individual who has the communication skills and persuasiveness necessary to influence, motivate, and inform travelers in the use of travel options statewide

  • Proven track record meeting job performance metrics

  • Ability to achieve objectives through teamwork

  • Must have current valid driver’s license and maintain clean driving record for duration of position

  • Must live in Western Massachusetts and have knowledge of existing communities and their travel and transportation challenges

  • Ability to work independently, manage a full calendar of events/meetings, and have dedicated space from which to telework

  • Ability to travel in to Boston at least once or twice per month to meet with supervisor and manager

  • Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Transportation Demand Management or Commuter Options is a plus

  • Experience working with SalesForce.com is a plus

  • Conversational Spanish or top five of languages spoken in MA (Portuguese, Cantonese, Mandarin, French, or French Creole)
