Job Summary

AECOM has a great opportunity for an Industrial Hygienist on our project in Alice Springs Australia. The Industrial Hygienists are multi-task technicians that are fully qualified as either an IH Technician or Industrial Safety Technician or concurrently in both positions. Under general direction from SH&E Director, the IH technicians may provide the following services, the selected candidate will provide industrial safety/industrial hygiene, environmental monitoring and hazardous material handling support; perform field measurements, safety evaluations (qualitative and quantitative analyses), and hazardous waste evaluations in accordance with Regulatory, industry and/or consensus standard testing/sampling protocols; use a wide range of complex laboratory equipment, instruments, and perform simple calculations, preliminary analyses, and field monitoring; compile, verify, and correlate data relating to occupational and environmental health exposure to chemicals, fumes, dust, and noise exposure; perform cold and heat stress surveys; perform Electromagnetic Non Ionizing Radiation surveys; perform asbestos and lead based paint sampling; perform SLM and noise dosimetry surveys; perform hydrogen monitoring (LEL); perform real time organic vapor monitoring; perform ergonomic assessments; work with Medical Clinic managing the medical surveillance program; prepare and assist with the preparation of studies and reports; maintain and calibrate monitoring instrumentation and equipment; prepare and maintain job related employee exposure records, including employee communication regarding personal monitoring results and perform other IH assessments as deemed applicable to the operation. May also provide safety-related support including but not limited to workplace inspections, behavior-based safety observations, safety training, and incident investigations.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in a related field, with 5+ years related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience/ minimum of 3- years of experience.

  • Top Secret security clearance.

  • Working knowledge of US Federal (EPA/OSHA) and DoD Environmental regulations and reporting procedures for environmental and safety, including but not limited to ADOD, WHS, WHO, CDC, etc.c…

  • Proficiency with MS Office and other software tools.

  • Excellent verbal & written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working Base Operations Support Services in a high security environment.

  • Experience with or working knowledge of Australian Environmental codes and regulations.
