Job Summary

AECOM has a great opportunity for an Emergency Response Manager supporting our program in Alice Springs, Australia. The Emergency Response Manager will be accountable to the Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) Manager OASIS for the direction and administration of the Emergency Management Program, the development and maintenance of the Emergency Management Plan and for all other associated plans and procedures. In additional, the selected candidate will be accountable for the development of Emergency Response plans and programs and develop new plans as necessary; act as Liaison with other municipalities, state, federal and other emergency management organizations in coordination with ADOD and Government of Australia Liaisons; maintain the emergency Action room; undertake field work relating to emergency response such as listed above; plan and facilitate remediation works using on-site equipment and machinery, ensuring that equipment is maintained and operated in a safe manner; assist the EH&S Team in conducting site inspections and audits, developing technical designs, undertaking research on Emergency Response mediation and responding to environmental incidents; perform planning of tools, equipment, assistance and materials needed to complete tasks; liaise with others on-site to notify and organize tasks to be undertaken as required; liaise with external bodies to obtain information for on-site management particularly with respect to regional issues such as fire, flood, and protest along with business continuity; report any incidents to Management as a priority; use computer systems, to record and plan work tasks; undertake all work in a safe and professional manner; develop a skill set to facilitate cross task support and implementation of all EH&S strategic objectives; and perform other duties as directed.

This is a local hire position.

Minimum Requirements

  • Active, fully adjudicate Top Security clearance is required.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to training aimed at obtaining desirable qualifications.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organise tasks.

  • Understanding of EH&S procedures.

  • Must have extensive knowledge within the Australasian Inter-Service Incident Management System

  • Ability to work professionally with minimal supervision.

  • Must have knowledge with Australian Work Health Safety Acts and Regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS in a related field, with 5+ Years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience or minimum of 10 years’ experience in disaster and emergency planning.

  • Training in appropriate safety procedures (i.e.

  • Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights, Personal Protective Equipment, Lockout/Tagout, Working in Trenches, Working with Heavy Machinery, etc.).

  • Experience with developing management plans and preparing reports.

  • Computer literacy including MS Access, Excel, and Word.

  • Previous experience of working in a Base Operations Support Environment.

  • Experience with or a working knowledge of Australian Environmental codes and regulations is preferred.
