About the Business Line
AECOM’s Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM’s Government business line and is comprised of three divisions — International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. GSS has the international presence, personnel networks and procurement infrastructure to deliver support for any mission, anywhere. We optimize the reliability, availability and sustainability of equipment, logistics systems and facilities for clients around the world. GSS supports the U.S. Government, non-U.S. Governments and industry clients with worldwide program management, planning, design, operations and maintenance, logistics, aviation services, security, international development, environmental and civil engineering and mission and intelligence support.
AECOM is hiring qualified Heavy Equipment Mechanics in support of USMC Depot Augmentation - Albany, GA.
Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds and maintains power equipment, such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, pumps, compressors and pneumatic tools. Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects.
Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools. Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges. Replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions. Tests overhauled equipment to insure operating efficiency. Welds broken parts and structural members. May direct workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment.
May repair, adjust and maintain mining machinery, such as stripping and loading shovels, drilling and cutting machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and outside weather conditions.
The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Work is performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated and ventilated, is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruises from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts and sweepers in shop area. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell. Frequently lifts items weighing 40-45 pounds and occasionally in excess of 50 pounds. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, or may include unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues.

Procedure Compliance - Each employee must read, understand and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures and policies pertaining to his/her job.
High school diploma or equivalent training/experience and a valid drivers license, three (3) years required.
Required to have a comprehensive knowledge of and skill in using the accepted trade methods and techniques and conventional types and/or CNC machines tools.
Exercises skill and ingenuity in using conventional machine tools and their attachments to perform machining processes requiring special adaptation of the equipment or processes.
Must have skill in programing machining operations, setting up and operating CNC machine tools.
Must have skill to operate CNC machine in automatic and semiautomatic mode and to make logical decision at each decision point to manually input, change, adjust or otherwise complete the machine instructions to produce a quality finish product.
Must have knowledge of advance shop mathematics.
Must have skill in performing work assignments that require accomplishing untried task or produce; or independent interpretation of work orders, drawings and specifications.
Have a thorough knowledge of the machining operation as well as knowledge of related trades in order to resolve problems.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a government Common Access Card (CAC) or Rapid Gate Pass.
Must be a US citizen.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and a government background check.
Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
Five (5) years actual and recent vehicle or related weapons system experience desired.
