A rewarding opportunity exists for a self-starting Senior Environmental Scientist/ Engineer in our Geoscience workgroup. The Principal Environmental Scientist/ Engineer will manage contaminated land and geoscience projects, provide direction to and mentoring of junior staff, and prepare complex technical reports and proposals for projects across a broad range of clients.
Involvement in all stages of contaminated land projects including site history investigations, analysing data gaps, sampling & analysis planning, field investigation of soil, waters and vapour, validating data, developing conceptual site models, supporting risk assessments, management plans and remedial works
Design and manage investigation and remediation programs.
Actively mentor and develop junior staff
Schedule staff and project resources and be responsible for the supervision of all deliverables to meet timing and quality requirements in line with the project plan
Develop and enhance internal and client relationships through regular communication and the provision of technical expertise to resolve clients / project requirements
Apply technical skills across a variety of industry sectors
Identify new business pursuits, capture opportunities and prepare winning bids
Minimum 10 years relevant professional experience is required for the role
Appropriate tertiary qualification in geology, chemistry, environmental or related engineering
Commercial acumen with experience in negotiating contracts, preparation of winning bids that clearly articulate the clients’ purpose and drivers for engaging AECOM, project cost estimation and execution of strategies to efficiently execute works
Demonstrated focus on client service by client listening and developing an understanding of the purpose of the work, regular and open communication, and accountability to deliver a solutions that meets their technical and commercial needs
Demonstrated skills and experience successfully leading project teams and in managing multi-disciplinary projects and deliverables in a safe, timely and profitable manner
Strong report writing skills, including ability to evaluate and interpret data, draw conclusions and provide practical and defensible recommendations
Active participation in industry associations, maintenance of up to date knowledge of technical aspects of your role and distribution with other team members
Effective collaboration, negotiation and teaming skills to work on project across business lines
Experience in managing and developing client relationships, developing and implementing strategies to retain and grown business
Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare and present engaging presentations to clients or colleagues
Detailed knowledge of national and SA contaminated land and environmental legislation
Flexibility in hours of work and mobility to work throughout SA and interstate is desirable
