A rewarding opportunity exists for a self-starting Environmental Scientist/ Engineer in our Geoscience workgroup. The role will involve the preparation of reports and conduct of field work for contaminated land assessment and remediation projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Involvement in all stages of contaminated land projects, including site history investigations, analysing data gaps, sampling & analysis planning, field investigation of soil, waters and vapour, validating data, developing conceptual site models, supporting risk assessments, management plans and remedial works

  • Processing, interpreting and reporting of field and laboratory data to meet best-practice industry guidelines, AECOM procedures and client expectations

  • Providing guidance and training to junior team members

Minimum Requirements

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification in geology, chemistry, environmental or related engineering

  • Minimum 5 years relevant professional experience is required for the role

  • Demonstrated skills in managing project tasks and budgets

  • Regular communication with team members and clients regarding quality, timing and results

  • Demonstrated experience in planning and management of safety risks of own work and that of subcontractors

  • Strong report writing skills, including ability to evaluate and interpret data, draw conclusions and provide practical and defensible recommendations

  • Development and enhancement of relationships with clients, AECOM staff and subcontractors through a strong focus on safety and client service.

  • Active participation in industry associations, maintenance of up to date knowledge of technical aspects of your role and distribution with other team members

  • Working knowledge of national and SA contaminated land and environmental legislation

  • Flexibility in hours of work and mobility to work throughout SA and interstate is desirable
